Once again, our sister N.1 Gianna Rizzo (@meaty on instagram) has blessed us with her incredible shots from Momentum's last session "Golden Age of Hip Hop pt 2". Next up is Queen's birthday - and our musical director Lawrence Ricks' birthday at the same time!
For this one, we're going all out - new tracks, special guests, supporting DJs. We want to make it a party and make the most of this public holiday. Expect Jazz, Funk, Soul, Latin, Hip Hop vibes and perhaps the Queen (TBC) for a special performance.
Sunday 7th June - 8pm start - Happy Hour till 9. See you there!
In the meantime, enjoy this selection of photos - more on our Facebook; Momentum section of the website.
Our collective was founded almost 3 years ago now with the passion and objective to offer innovative creative happenings around Melbourne, celebrate our city's multicultural facet and artistic vitality while offering a platform of expression to our local artists.
From Cultural Oasis to Momentum, a lot has happened inbetween. This is the reason why we're stocked to get a feature on Vulture Magazine. In this interview, we look back at our short (jam packed) history and give you an idea of where we see Foreign Brothers going. Check this out:
It's been a busy week at Foreign Brothers and for our residency at the Evelyn. Articles in Broadsheet and ToneDeaf, radio interviews with the cool cats Mz Rizk on Urban Fervour (Kiss FM) and Chris Gill's Get Down show on Triple R, amazing photos by our in-house photographer Gianna Rizzo, new material coming up on our soundcloud really soon and of course this teaser video made by the guys at Gorilla Films. Check it out! We'd love to see you on sunday.
'The Golden Age of Hip Hop' part 2 is happening this sunday again at the Evelyn from 8pm! Musical director and funk-jazz bassist Lawrence L Ricks has selected a series of tracks that made hip-hop history and will revisit them on stage with the Core-tet. For this one, MCs, singers and musicians will jump up on stage to offer you a completely original and improvised live session.
SPOILER ALERT: Cl Smooth, Pete Rock, Digable Planets, The Roots, De La Soul and more will be in the building that night!! (Or at least it will sound like it...)
Make sure you get down you and your crew and support the local talents that make Melbourne such an amazing creative city!
